Privacy policy
Last updated
This policy explains how Contra handles personal information when you visit contra-hq.com, contact us or book a conversation. It covers our marketing website and related enquiries. Any separate services or partnership will have their own relevant terms and privacy information.
Who is responsible for your information
Contra is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. To ask a question or exercise your privacy rights, email regina@contra-hq.com.
Information we collect
- When you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, firm, role and the contents of your message.
- When you book through Calendly, we receive the booking details you provide, including contact details, the meeting time and any answers or notes you submit.
- Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. This may include your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, request times and diagnostic or security logs.
The website has no accounts, enquiry forms or mailing list sign-ups. You do not need to provide contact details to browse. If you contact us or book a meeting, please provide only what we need to respond and avoid sending sensitive information or your clients' personal information. Without the necessary contact or booking details, we may be unable to respond or arrange a meeting.
How and why we use information
We use enquiry and booking information to respond to you, arrange meetings and discuss a potential working relationship. We rely on our legitimate interests in communicating with people who approach Contra and developing those relationships, while taking account of their privacy rights. Where we take steps at your request that are necessary before entering into a contract with you, we rely on that pre-contractual basis instead.
We process technical information for our legitimate interests in delivering a functioning website, diagnosing problems and preventing abuse. We may also retain or disclose information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not use this website for advertising, analytics or mailing list marketing, and we do not make decisions about you solely through automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Service providers and other recipients
We use Vercel to host this website and Calendly to arrange meetings. They process information needed to provide their services. Our email provider also processes correspondence when you email us. People working for Contra may access information where they need it to handle your enquiry or operate the website.
Read Vercel's privacy policy and Calendly's privacy notice for information about their own processing. We may also share information with professional advisers or authorities where necessary for legal advice, compliance or the protection of legal rights.
Cookies and external websites
We do not add analytics or advertising cookies to this website. Hosting and security services may use technical mechanisms needed to deliver and protect the site.
Our booking links take you to Calendly's website. Calendly applies its own privacy notice and cookie choices when you visit it. Other external websites also have their own privacy policies.
International processing
Vercel and Calendly may process information in the United States and other countries outside the UK. Their privacy notices explain their international transfer safeguards, including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and contractual safeguards where applicable. You can contact us to ask about transfers of your information and request details or copies of the relevant safeguards.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. For enquiries and bookings, this depends on the nature of the conversation, whether a relationship develops, and any legal or record-keeping requirements. Technical logs follow the relevant provider's retention settings and the needs of website operation and security. We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed, subject to any legal requirement to retain it.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and the legal basis for processing, you may have the right to:
- Ask for access to your personal information and a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Ask us to erase information or restrict how we use it.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests because of your particular situation. You can always object to direct marketing.
- Receive information you provided in a portable format where processing is automated and based on consent or a contract.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Email regina@contra-hq.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable data protection law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website or practices change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Where required, we will bring significant changes to your attention separately.
